Hi Talent Pool Divers,
This week, I took a different route. I found myself amidst the industry's best at the CWS(Contingent Workforce Solutions) Summit in Dallas. It was a gathering of contingent workforce leaders, all eager to discuss the pressing topics shaping our industry.
Currently sitting in the Omni Lobby on a quiet Friday morning, the buzz from the summit still echoed in my ears.
The industry, it seems, is in a race - not of innovation, but of buzzwords.
Whether it's AI or Direct Sourcing, the allure of the 'next big thing' is undeniable. But beneath these buzzwords lie the real stories, the tangible shifts. Here's my take:
Everyone from EORs to Curators is itching to break free from the mold. They're not waiting around; they're building, innovating, and trying to outdo the existing tools.
But here's my raw take: Direct Sourcing is getting lost in translation. Some see it as a quick dip into a talent pool, while others imagine a vast ocean, intertwined with ATSs, VMSs, job boards, and third-party suppliers.
But are we missing the forest for the trees? Direct Sourcing shines when it's about nurturing our very own talent pool. It's about turning a cost center into a rehiring ecosystem, which then becomes a company asset.
I get the hurdles. New tools? New systems? They're daunting. And yes, making your talent pool a star player in the VMS might seem like a smart move. But here's my ask: Let's not stretch the concept of internal talent pools thin. When everyone's trying to grab a piece, the essence gets diluted.
Your talent pool? It's yours. Period. And while we're on this, remember: ownership of talent better known as people doesn’t exist, is a relic of the past.
If your pool comes up short, sure, look outside. But remember, it's just one avenue, and often, it's the one that's light on the pocket.
Now, a nugget from the summit: The VMS debate. Service providers? They're all about integration. But buyers? They're peeking outside the VMS window. This contrast? It's not just interesting; it's a sign of the times.
Cutting through the noise, Direct Sourcing boils down to this: A robust talent pool and the right tools to drive hires. No fluff. No over-engineering. It's simple, and its promise?
The second major trend, perhaps more aligned with the Gig E, is the push towards digitalization. Staffing companies are looking to transform their passive databases into active platforms or marketplaces
Traditional staffing agencies are realizing the potential of technology, not just as a tool, but as an integral part of their service offering. Here's a deeper dive:
From Passive to Active: The days of passive databases are numbered. Agencies are turning these static repositories into dynamic platforms. Instead of just storing candidate information, these platforms are becoming interactive spaces where candidates can engage, update their skills, and even participate in community discussions.
Efficiency and Cost Savings: By adopting a platform approach, staffing agencies can automate many of their routine tasks. This not only reduces administrative overheads but also ensures faster response times.
The result? A leaner, more efficient operation that can deliver better value to clients.
The summit was a revelation. Seeing Bubty, my brainchild, resonate with so many, and become a recognized name was nothing short of exhilarating.
The focus on talent pools and the push for direct sourcing technology signals a positive shift in the industry.
It's about making talent acquisition more efficient for both talent and buyers, leveraging technology to bridge gaps.
The myth of the tight labor market is slowly fading.
With technology, we're opening up global workforce capabilities. While the US market might be tight, have we explored the potential in Africa, East Europe, or Asia?
The need for a decentralized talent approach is evident, and with talent pools, companies are beginning to realize their power.
Lastly, a heartfelt note to you: The recognition I received for my content was overwhelming. To know that my daily insights have such an impact is both humbling and motivating.
It drives me to share more, and continue this journey with all of you.
Let's continue to challenge the status quo, ask the hard questions, and shape the future of talent acquisition.
Cheers,
